EARLY AUTISM EVALUATIONS.

The Process.

The process of an autism diagnosis includes three main steps. After an initial intake to determine eligibility, a licensed Psychologist performs the evaluation and any subsequent specialized tests such as ADOS. Any children between the ages of 1 and 5 that have shown symptoms of autism, are eligible.

HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS ARE NECESSARY FOR THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION?

There are 3 steps to the testing procedure: IDI (Initial Diagnostic Interview) Testing, & Feedback.

HOW LONG DOES AN EVALUATION TYPICALLY TAKE?

Approximately 4 hours.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE/MEDICAID?

We accept most major insurances and private pay.

WHAT AGE RANGE DO YOU SERVICE?

Children ages 5 and under.

HOW SHOULD PARENTS PREPARE THEIR CHILD FOR THE ASSESSMENT?

Explain the Purpose: Tell your child why they’re having a psychological evaluation in simple terms.
Be Honest: Explain the evaluation process honestly and reassure them it’s okay to talk openly.
Choose the Right Professional: Ensure you select a qualified psychologist or mental health professional.
Answer Questions: Encourage your child to ask questions and address their concerns.
Emphasize Confidentiality: Explain that what they discuss with the psychologist is private.
Create a Positive Environment: Make evaluation day stress-free with proper rest and meals.
Comfort Items: Allow your child to bring a comforting toy or item.
Relaxation Techniques: Teach simple relaxation techniques.
Follow-Up Plans: Explain that you’ll discuss the results and next steps after the evaluation.
Reinforce Self-Expression: Encourage honest expression of thoughts and feelings.
Be Supportive: Reassure your child of your support throughout the process.
