The Process.

The process of an autism diagnosis includes three main steps. After an initial intake to determine eligibility, a licensed Psychologist performs the evaluation and any subsequent specialized tests such as ADOS. Any children between the ages of 1 and 5 that have shown symptoms of autism, are eligible.

Getting Started

Screening and Initial Assessment

First, we’ll do a quick screening using tools like M-CHAT or the like. This helps us get an initial idea. Then, we will ask you about your child’s behavior and how they’re developing. Your insights are really important!

Going Deeper

Comprehensive Evaluation

Next, we’ll have a more detailed evaluation. A clinical psychologist will be there to support. They’ll look at how your child communicates, interacts socially, and more. This appointment focuses on a standardized behavioral observation of the child in a serene indoor environment with minimal distractions.

Understanding the Results

Diagnostic Conclusion and Feedback

Once all the assessments are done, we’ll review everything. If autism is a possibility, we’ll let you know. Your child’s well-being is our top priority! We’ll discuss the results with you and, if needed, suggest therapies or interventions that can make a positive difference. Remember, you’re not alone in this journey!

HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS ARE NECESSARY FOR THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION?

There are 3 steps to the testing procedure: IDI (Initial Diagnostic Interview) Testing, & Feedback.

HOW LONG DOES AN EVALUATION TYPICALLY TAKE?

Approximately 4 hours.
